From the beginning I’ve been interested in writing for voices other than my own. For one thing, I didn’t want my musical choices to be constrained by the limitations of one voice and one guitar. And I’ve always felt that the model of “singer-songwriter” was too confining.
Plus, I have always enjoyed the creative challenge involved in writing for musical ensembles of all shapes and sizes, for all sorts of venues and uses.
Fortunately, I have been able to work (and play) with a host of talented musicians over the years—and particularly with a small group of lifelong accomplices and dear friends who have been my musical partners-in-crime for decades. Their voices and contributions are well represented here, and I am extremely grateful for everything they’ve taught me, and the inspiration they have always provided.
